This article critically explores the archetype as a psychological and literary construct, grounded in Carl Jung‘s theory of the collective unconscious and expanded by post-Jungian and literary criticism. It examines archetypes as universal symbolic patterns that shape perception, emotion, and narrative meaning, distinguishing them from socially constructed stereotypes. Through comparative analysis of recurring motifs, character types, and narrative structures, the study highlights the dynamic and culturally adaptable nature of archetypes. It also considers debates on their origin, classification, and function, demonstrating their enduring significance as mediators between inner psychic structures and external cultural expression.
