Abstract

This article explores the use of gamification in English language teaching as a strategy to enhance student motivation and engagement. It defines the gamification  as the integration of game elements such as points, badges, levels, and leaderboards into educational contexts to improve learning outcomes. Drawing on recent literature, the study shows that gamified approaches foster learner autonomy, persistence, and self-efficacy. The research findings indicate that gamification significantly improves linguistic performance, particularly in vocabulary acquisition, and supports self-regulated learning. The article concludes that gamification has strong potential to transform language education and recommends further research on its long-term effectiveness and design principles.
