Abstract

In recent years, mixing two or more languages while speaking or writing has become a common practice, especially among foreign language learners. This study focuses on how code switching and code mixing – switching between languages or blending words from different languages – may support the process of learning a new language. Instead of seeing them as mistakes, these strategies are viewed as helpful tools. They make it easier for students to speak fluently, understand complex ideas, and feel more confident using the target language. Based on examples from Uzbek students learning English, the paper shows that language mixing is a natural stage in multilingual learning and may improve language development if used properly.
