Listening comprehension is a fundamental component of language acquisition, forming the basis for the development of oral and written communication. This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of listening comprehension, its role in language learning, and the teaching methodologies that enhance this skill. Traditional methods such as listening to recorded texts are reviewed alongside modern approaches, including audiovisual and interactive techniques, communicative and task-based frameworks, and socio-constructivist pedagogy. The study also addresses the evaluation of listening comprehension, emphasizing the importance of authentic materials, progressive activities, and phonetic training. Ultimately, listening comprehension is presented as an active, strategic, and culturally embedded process that fosters learner autonomy and communicative competence.
